Why
Voice Over?
I've received many compliments for my voice since the
late 80's. Hmmmmm.... perhaps they know something I have not yet discovered
about myself.
In 2008, while discovering the "world" of
background acting and doing some research, I came across a studio
that specializes in voice over training, coaching and production.
They were very reputable, so I signed up for their evaluation course
to get feedback. They thought I had a nice voice and that there definitely
is a market for my voice.
Since then I have taken several coaching sessions, attended
various workshops and participate regularly in their biweekly teleconferences
with seasoned professionals.
In 2009, I was fortunate to work with my company's Communications
Department to do voice over for a commercial, which was aired on Comcast.
It's kind of nice receiving a phone call from someone who recognized
my voice on the air or some other media.
I'm excited about this new venture and I'm trusting
God that he will continue to open doors and direct my path.
One day a friend asked me to speak with one of his younger college
mentees. Later that week he told his friend that he was talking
to me, his friend said, who "the voice"?
That's been my name ever since.
This endeavor is the fruit of much encouragement and many, many
compliments over the years. Here are just a few of the more memorable
comments:
Friends Of My Sisters
Friend: Your sister called.
My sister: Which one?
Friend: The one with the sexy voice.
A Woman From An Architectural
Firm
She came to my job at that time and told me that
she loved my voice.
She said she would tell others to call my number just to hear my voice.
A Former Roommate regarding
my voicemail greeting
Roommate: Can't you use a normal voice?
Me: This is my normal voice.
Roommate: My coworkers say they call to get their morning therapy.
Reading Instructions
For An Engineering Exam
The other proctors I work with also call me "The
Voice". In 2010 one of the examinees came up to me as he was
leaving for lunch and said, "you have an AMAZING voice. My company
pays a lot of money for people to use their voice." (He works
for AT&T)
A Former Co-Worker
A co-worker asked if I would record her voice mail
greeting for her private practice. The next day she called and said,
girl, you need to get you some business cards and start your own business.
Five people called me within the past 24 hours and said, "WHO
did your greeting?"
My Former Hair Stylist
I think he was actually the first to refer to me
as "The Voice". He used to tease me by saying I should work
for companies that use those 900 numbers.
To all of you
represented above and those
